Stories

Victory

The Queen’s Virtues coin series has been launched to celebrate the 95th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who holds these six virtues as dearly as her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria did.

The ‘Queen’s Virtues’ form part of the Victoria Memorial monument outside Buckingham Palace, which features sculptured allegorical figures that personify:

• Victory
• Truth
• Charity
• Justice
• Courage
• Constancy
A key virtue recognised in both Victoria’s and Elizabeth II’s reign, Victory holds a position at the very top of the Victoria Memorial monument.

In gilded bronze the Winged Victory stands upon a globe, holding a victor’s palm. The victor’s palm represents victory, triumph and peace, a symbol originating from the Middle East.

In ancient Roman religion, Victoria was a goddess personifying Victory, the Roman’s equivalent of the Greek goddess, Nike.

Inspired by the Victoria Memorial outside Buckingham Palace, our first design features a detailed depiction of the allegorical figure Victory with the text Victory through Harmony. On the obverse is a cameo effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.

This 10oz Silver bullion coin bar is minted to investment grade standard in unlimited quantity. Issued in 2022 it is our final coin bar to be released bearing the Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.

  • FAQ

What's the difference between a BU coin and a Proof coin?
A coin struck to a BU (Brilliant Uncirculated) quality is typically machine produced in mass and purchased mainly for investment purposes. It is the lowest grade of minting above circulating coin standard and as such may carry imperfections typical of a mass produced product. Proof quality coins are the pinnacle of minting artistry. Generally issued in precious metals as strictly limited editions, proof coins are struck one coin at a time in a high pressure press which strikes the design into the blank a number of times to ensure every detail is transferred. Every Proof coin finish should be as close to perfection as possible.
