In celebration of the 95th Birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, this 2021 Sovereign Gold Proof Three Coin Set features St George & the Dragon on the coins’ reverses and, with special permission from Her Majesty, the classic Gillick, Maklouf & Clark portraits that have illustrated her reign.
The Proof Sovereign is graced by Mary Gillick’s elegant portrait created when Her Majesty acceded to the throne in 1952 at just 25 years old. The Half Sovereign features Raphael Maklouf’s 1984 portrait of a maturing Queen while The Quarter Sovereign carries Jody Clark’s fifth coinage portrait first revealed in 2015.

Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary of York was born in London on the 21st of April 1926, the first grandchild of King George V and third in the line of succession behind her uncle, the Prince of Wales, and her father.
With the abdication of her uncle King Edward VIII and the accession of her father as King George VI in 1936, the ten-year old Princess became heiress presumptive. Princess Elizabeth then ascended the throne on the 6th of February 1952 after the sad death of her beloved father.
