Stories

Her Majesty
Queen Elizabeth II

Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary of York was born in London on the 21st of April 1926, the first grandchild of King George V and third in the line of succession behind her uncle, the Prince of Wales, and her father.

With the abdication of her uncle King Edward VIII and the accession of her father as King George VI in 1936, the ten-year old Princess became heiress presumptive. Princess Elizabeth then ascended the throne on the 6th of February 1952 after the sad death of her beloved father.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has gone on to achieve many milestones during her reign and, on the 9th of September 2015, Her Majesty became the longest serving monarch in British and UK history, surpassing the reign of her great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria. In a speech given at the time, Her Majesty said, with typical humility:

"Inevitably a long life can pass by many milestones - my own is no exception - but I thank you all and the many others at home and overseas for your touching messages of great kindness"

The Sovereign, a precise 7.98g of gleaming 916.7 gold, has one of the world’s most accurate coin specifications and is accompanied here by the half and quarter Sovereigns in a spectacular tribute to Her Majesty on her 95th birthday.

Each 2021 Sovereign Gold Proof Three Coin Set contains a One Sovereign, Half Sovereign and Quarter Sovereign struck to our finest proof finish, presented in a luxury display case with numbered certificate of authenticity.
