A befitting tribute to our longest reigning monarch
The royal arms are presented in full on the imposing 2022 Five Sovereign Coin, the largest coin in the collection. The four distinct quarters of the arms are then captured on the Double Sovereign, Sovereign, Half Sovereign and Quarter Sovereign.
Individually they offer a beautifully detailed insight into specific chapters of The Queen’s family history; together they combine to tell the full heraldic story of the world’s longest reigning monarch as she marks her Platinum Jubilee.

In honour of this historic royal milestone, each coin is finished to our finest proof quality, every design detail crystal clear thanks to a combination of traditional hand craftsmanship and the best of modern minting technology.
Hand engraved by expert medallist Elles Kloosterman, each Sovereign denomination has taken hours of delicate dedication to create a series of completely unique Sovereigns capturing and emphasising each detail of this iconic symbol. Surround each coin is the Latin inscription – DIEU ET MON DROIT – meaning God and my right.

The significance of the Royal Arms and the Monarchy
As Her Majesty becomes the first British monarch to celebrate 70 years on the throne, our new 2022 Sovereign design highlights the heritage and heraldry that inform The Queen’s family history and combine to form Her Majesty’s official coat of arms; the royal arms.
Used by The Queen in her official capacity as monarch of the United Kingdom, variants are used by other members of the British royal family, by the British Government and some courts and legislatures in a number of Commonwealth realms. The arms in banner form serve as the monarch's official flag, the Royal Standard.
